“We Thought Baths Were Over”: Terisa West’s Story

If you’ve ever lived with someone who has limited mobility, you know how quickly everyday routines can change. Things most people don’t think twice about—like taking a bath—suddenly feel complicated, even scary. When legs aren’t strong enough and balance isn’t reliable, a bathtub stops being relaxing and starts feeling risky.

That’s what happened in our home.

My husband has limited mobility in his legs. Standing up, lowering himself, and getting back up again are all difficult, and falls have always been a concern. Over time, baths became something we avoided. Showers were quicker and felt safer, but they were never comfortable. And soaking in a bathtub—something he used to love—felt like it was no longer an option.

As his caregiver, I was always on edge during bath time. Even though I helped him, I worried about slipping, sudden pain, or not being able to lift him if something went wrong. It was stressful for both of us, and honestly, it took away some of his sense of independence.

We came across the VOCIC AX08 bath lift while searching online, almost by chance. We didn’t even realize bath lift chairs for home use were an option before that. The price was reasonable, delivery was convenient, so we decided to give it a try.

I’m really glad we did.

The AX08 electric bath lift made an immediate difference. It gently lowers him into the tub and lifts him back up in a smooth, controlled way. No jerky movements. No rushing. The backrest lets him lean back and actually relax, which was something we hadn’t seen in a long time. For the first time in years, my husband was able to soak in the bathtub again.

I still help wash him, but the feeling in the room has completely changed. I’m not constantly worried about him slipping or losing balance. He feels secure, supported, and more at ease. A simple bath lift chair might not sound life-changing, but in our case, it really was.

We were also impressed with how well everything was handled. The chair arrived quickly, was packaged securely, and when we needed support, customer service stepped in right away and replaced a part without any hassle. That kind of care matters when you’re already juggling so much.

Now, bath time isn’t stressful anymore. It’s calm. It’s safe. And most importantly, it’s something my husband can enjoy again.
