ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It causes the nerve cells that control muscle movement to gradually deteriorate and die, ultimately leading to muscle weakness and atrophy. ALS patients typically experience progressively worsening muscle weakness, which impacts basic activities such as speaking, swallowing, and breathing.
Omar Dix, an ALS patient, finds it difficult to walk on his own due to muscle degeneration caused by ALS. "My muscles have deteriorated, and my balance has gone bad. It is difficult for me to walk without help," says Omar Dix. In addition to actively cooperating with his doctors and performing daily care activities, he followed his doctor's advice and purchased a rollator walker to assist with his daily life. "When I use the rollator, it reduces the pain and fatigue. It allows me to walk further and safer." The rollator walker has indeed made his outings more convenient.
After his old walker broke, he purchased a more comfortable and cost-effective VOCIC Z21 rollator walker, which arrived quickly a few months ago.
It was set up in about 20 minutes, and Omar Dix tried lifting it himself. "I am 6'1" and I weigh 190 pounds. My strength is going quickly, but I can still lift it even though I have ALS." He then eagerly tested his "new friend" on various terrains.
"It supports me very well. I can go on any surface without worries. I love the seat to rest on when I need to." One of the features Omar Dix appreciates most is the Z21 rollator walker solid tire. Made from a blend of PP (polypropylene) and PVC (polyvinyl chloride), the tires are lightweight and durable, which allows the walker to handle various terrains. Importantly, the Z21 rollator walker's seat is comfortable, which provides rest when Omar Dix needs it and reduces muscle pain.
“I have used a standard walker before, and I will never use one again!” Omar Dix prefers the Z21 over his old walker. “Amazing! 100% awesome bargain! I'm so glad I ordered mine!” he added.
Now, Omar Dix can't imagine his daily life without the Z21 rollator walker. “I use the Z21 several times a week. I go for walks, shopping, or to visit friends in the neighborhood.” The Z21 makes visiting friends convenient for Omar Dix. “I live in a rural area, and it's a bit of a walk for me to get to my friend's house or the park. I could not do it without the Rollator Z21.”
Omar Dix also suggested improvements for the Z21, hoping for enhancements for nighttime use. “The only adjustments or modifications I would recommend are to provide safety accessories, such as convenient accessories like lights, etc.” . VOCIC is gearing up to make these improvements, with new products set to be released soon.
We know that finding optimized treatment and care methods, and increasing access to care, can help ALS patients live the life they want and achieve a higher quality of life. Additionally, in daily life, you can also use a safe mobility aid to make daily activities easier, just like Omar Dix did.
