Cancer, like many chronic illnesses, operates on its own unpredictable schedule. Those who live with it often find that their bodies don’t adhere to the timelines they’ve planned. One day, they might feel strong and capable, and the next, their energy is completely drained. As Colleen McKenzie puts it, “As a cancer patient, I have good days and bad. After this trip, I have been sick. Cancer is hard. People with disabilities don’t work on those timelines—we work on our sickness’ timeline.”

Colleen McKenzie, a courageous woman approaching her 50s, has been waging a relentless battle against stage 4 metastatic sarcoma bone cancer for several years. Her journey began with a tumor in her left leg, leading to aggressive chemotherapy and a complex leg reconstruction surgery. Despite these efforts, the cancer metastasized to her lungs, and she now faces additional tumors in her leg. Walking has become an arduous daily task, requiring the aid of a cane and walker. While a wheelchair might simplify her life, Colleen remains resolute, determined to make the most of the time she has left.

To manage her condition, Colleen relies on a chemotherapy pill. Everyday activities, such as taking a walk outside or going shopping, have become significant hurdles. Yet, Colleen refuses to let cancer dictate her life. Instead, she finds joy in the small moments and treasures the time spent with loved ones. Her unwavering resilience and optimistic outlook are a powerful testament to her strength and determination.

Recently, Colleen’s life took a meaningful turn when she received a VOCIC Z21 Rollator Walker through a wishlist giveaway program. This lightweight, foldable walker has transformed her daily life. Its easy assembly and portability have given Colleen a renewed sense of independence. No longer confined to her home, she can now venture to the park, breathe in the fresh air, and immerse herself in the beauty of nature.

One of Colleen’s favorite features of the VOCIC Z21 is its comfortable seat, which she uses during her park outings. “When I feel tired, I simply sit down for a few minutes, catch my breath, and enjoy the view,” she shares. “It’s such a small thing, but it makes a huge difference.” The walker’s storage compartment has also been a game-changer, allowing her to carry essentials like water, snacks, and even a small book without added stress. “It’s like having a little companion with me wherever I go, ” she says with a smile.

“This is sick a great gift. I’ll be back in May with more trips and more pictures.” said Colleen

This is precisely the purpose behind our giveaway program: to support those in need, alleviating both physical and financial burdens. At VOCIC, we are committed to creating products that go beyond solving problems—they empower individuals to live life on their own terms.
