A Stroke Survivor’s Battle and the Lift That Made It Possible

A stroke can strike in an instant, yet its impact can last a lifetime. For many survivors, paralysis—especially hemiplegia, or paralysis on one side of the body—is one of the most devastating outcomes. It steals independence and confines the body, often reducing once-active individuals to bedridden patients. For families, it brings emotional heartache, physical exhaustion, and the daunting question: How do we give them the care they deserve at home?

“She can’t stand or move on her own,” Larry shared. “And she would not survive emotionally in a nursing home.”

That was the question one devoted husband asked himself after his wife suffered a severe stroke that left her right side completely paralyzed. “She cannot stand or transfer to a wheelchair on her own,” he shared. “She’s completely bedridden.”

The couple faced a painful reality: Without the proper equipment, staying at home would be nearly impossible. “She would not survive emotionally in a nursing home,” he said, his voice filled with both love and determination.

That’s when he discovered the VOCIC AY02 Transfer Lift, a powerful alternative to institutional care. Designed to safely transfer individuals who can’t support their own weight, the AY02 gave this husband something more than just convenience—it gave him a way to care for his wife with dignity.

“I transfer my wife from the bed to a wheelchair using the lift,” he explained. “Without it, that would be impossible for me to do.” Before owning the lift, the idea of maneuvering someone who weighs over 200 lbs was overwhelming. Now, with the AY02’s high weight capacity and easy-to-use hand controls, the impossible has become routine.

He especially appreciates how simple the lift was to assemble, and how solid and secure the structure feels during transfers. “The build quality is excellent, and the weight support is exactly what we needed,” he noted. The couple also relies on the rechargeable battery, which powers smooth, controlled lifting—even in tight spaces like the bedroom.

But more than its features, the AY02 has made something much more meaningful possible: staying home. It has removed the looming threat of institutional care and allowed this family to continue living under the same roof, surrounded by familiarity, comfort, and love.

“This product has enabled my wife to stay home and not in a nursing home,” he said. “I can't overstate how important that is. Emotionally, she would not survive that.”

The impact of the AY02 lift has been so profound that he has since recommended it to several others in similar situations. "This lift, at this price point, will help more people stay home. That matters.”

“The road of stroke recovery is long and often unsteady. But tools like the VOCIC AY02 Transfer Lift empower caregivers to walk that road not with fear, but with confidence.” said Larry.
